Founded by Dean McMinn and Oli Smith, Dare2Run is a South Wales based outdoor adventure and running events specialist. The founders came together over a mutual love of the outdoors, adventure sports and trail running underpinned by a great desire to positively promote and preserve the natural playground they spend the majority of their time in.
The business is about to embark on an ambitious growth plan to achieve our vision of being one of the first truly sustainable adventure events organisers. We love the outdoors and also want to inspire all to not only challenge themselves physically, but also to enjoy and benefit from the freedom our beautiful countryside evokes, and the sense of personal wellbeing it encourages.
You can find a bit more about the team below.
Dare2Run Race Director and Co-Founder, Dean McMinn is an experienced outdoor enthusiast. Explorer by nature, endurance athlete by default. Dean completed his first ultra-loop race in Australia way back in 1995, going on to compete in and explore many, many more. Involved with races in cities, deserts, jungles, mountains and across harsh coastal exposures, his background as a geologist has also taken him to locations that are untouched or experienced by very few. His love for adventure and the wild, as well as for the sheer thrill of competing in ultra-stage races has driven him to this unavoidable vocation. Now settled in South Wales, his experience of racing in far flung locations has created an overwhelming desire to share his passion by creating Wales’ first looped trail ultramarathon event.
Co-founder and Champion of Sustainability, Oli spends the majority of his free-time getting lost in the South Wales countryside, followed closely by his similarly enthusiastic wife and kids. An absolute fanatic for the physical and mental wellbeing that the freedom of racing in the hills encapsulates, he loves nothing more than inspiring others to join him. He’s competed for over 10 years in a variety of road, trail and ultra races, and wants to ensure that Dare2Run create a new breed of sustainable events, promoting and enhancing the landscapes they wind through.
When not donning his trail running shoes or in the office, Oli will most likely be found on his surfboard, mountain bike or lugging his kids up a mountain.
